For over 200 years we have supported the human consumption meat processing industry by further processing the animal co-products into edible meat fractions, feed ingredients for livestock, companion animals and fish as well as manuifacturing pharmaceutical ingredients, edible tallow as well as tallow for soap, cosmetics and biofuels.
These valuable commodities are highly sought after both domestically and internationally.
The Association only awards Honorary Membership to persons who have contributed to the Association far beyond levels expected over a long period of time and is the highest honour we can confer.
The Association confers two prestigious awards biennially.
The first is the Ron Lyon Award which began as an encouragement award to young achievers in the industry who were nominated by member firms. This was later changed to recognise members who have contributed significantly to industry and is now regarded as second only to Honourary Membership in the recognition that can be awarded to a member.
The second is the Brian W. Bartlett Service to Industry Award that is awarded to persons, not necessarily members, who have contributed significantly to the industry.
Each year at least one accreditation workshop is conducted to train persons in hygenic rendering. From each course a student is chosen based on set criteria and ireceives the Reginald Evans Best Student Award.
